devices not showing up anymore on Scrcpy

my scrcpy was working perfectly fine this morning and all of a sudden it has stopped working

when i do adb devices, my devices do not pop up as attached,
I have tried to turn usb debugging on and off but this hasn't worked

I have tried reinstalling scrcpy as well and i keep getting

ERROR: Could not find any ADB device
ERROR: Server connection failed

any advice on how to fix this issue (on mac)

Same issue on Windows 11, except it never worked. Phone is a Xiaomi Mi 11 lite 5G phone, dead screen. I shaked it hard, temporarily restoring it and was able to confirm that debug mode was indeed enabled. ADB does not list devices. Previously, adb worked to reboot the device.

What if I can't enable adb debugging anymore?
