I was wondering since it seems that the session manager addons have a long way to go with the new firefox 57 if it would be possible to have an option on your addon to automatically save all tabs in all windows when you close firefox? The name of the tab group preferably should be the date and time.

It's not planned to add windows groups support for now. I'm focusing on improving the internationalisation support and features for tabs.
Thanks for the idea, I'll keep it in case I add windows groups support.

What do you mean by windows group? There would be no need to keep the windows separated inside the tab group that is saved IMO. Tabber could merge all the windows tabs into one tablist or create 1 tablist per window. The only thing new would be to have the option to automatically save the tabs when firefox closes.

Actually merging would be good idea.
The problem is that no API allows the extension to detect when the user closes the browser, so the only option is to try mimic a closing detection, or constantly save current tabs.

That sounds good. I dont know how the mimic closing detection would work (that would be the best option if possible). The save session per interval would work as long as the addon deletes "old" copies of the session. So like for example it saves every 10 min and keeps only the last 3 sessions saved that way.

That would be a possibility.
But I still wonder why Restore last session option in History menu doesn't fit ?

I tried to use the restore last session option but it was unreliable to me. I reported the feature requests or issues to firefox but they were dismissive saying that was not a priority.

The idea with this request to me is to have a safenet and use normal tabber to be able to keep old sessions because I usually alternate between 3 sessions: One long lasting one where I have the tabs that I plan to watch and wanna keep open because if I just bookmark them I forget about them; one session that I use when I'm in a hurry and dont wanna have the clutter of all those tabs open; and a session that I share with my wife.

Still If you don't see the utility for most users don't feel pressured to implement the feature. I asked for it because I thought that it was something people are/will be missing on firefox 57 beta/release.

I understand what you mean now.
I like the idea, as a student I'm currently busy, but I think I will see how I can implement this as an optional feature.
Thanks !

FWIW I definitely agree an autosave function is needed.
