Ubuntu 24.04: MHS35-show broken

Fresh Ubuntu 24.04 install on my RP3 has build errors based on configurations missing in 24.04.
Think the build script needs a bump for new file schemas in 24.04.

cp: cannot create regular file '/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/99-fbturbo.conf': No such file or directory
(this file is missing upon installation)

reboots to a white screen. Even with the older Ubuntu 22.04 pre-built image the screen fails to post only showing white.
However, the Kali pre-build image version works smoothly with no issues with screen posting. So my display still works but this script is unfortunately failing with Ubuntu 24.04.

Anyone here manage to get this working on Ubuntu 24.04 server or desktop?
