Add wsl files to windows search index #7144
Comments
Hi @Karmah24 that's a great feature request idea! I'd like to expand on it a bit by saying that my interpretation of this would be that you would want your files in Linux to be searchable from the start menu just like any other files on a Windows machine. Is that right? |
Yes, precisely. |
This is a much needed feature! Is there any update on this? |
Just stumbled on this and wanted to expand on it a bit - I don't necessarily need the entire WSL system indexed, just a certain set of directories that hold key files. This would also make it possible to add files in a WSL to custom libraries. In my use case, I use WSL for all of my development, and as a result all of my code is stored inside my WSL's home directory. I want to turn create a Windows library called "projects", which would contain projects contained both in WSL and Windows, but can't because the WSL files are not indexed. |
I would also love to have this ability. Searching through WSL in Explorer technically works but it takes a really long time and uses a lot of CPU. |
Any updates on this? It would be great to be able to add some WSL paths to Explorer libraries. |
haha! Today I got stuck with the same problem while trying to add WSL paths to Explorer Libraries and... failed! |
Is there a way to add wsl files to search index in windows ?
