Your colleagues over at vscode-python-debugger have implemented no-config debugging microsoft/vscode-python-debugger#561

Would be very useful if it was implemented for Java as well.

Yes. It's an everyday (latest today) to set up debugging properly with launch.json etc. For Python it simply just works now.

Would be a huge time saver and also make it a lot more user friendly.
