SD card Issue

I have a 8GB microSD card and when I try to paste the .img file on it I get an 0x80004005 error. I was using Winzip, but switched to 7zip and it seemed to copy but another error saying "file to large etc..." I either will have to buy a new larger microSD or there's an issue with my laptop or something.
