Looks like com.microsoft.copilot.eclipse.core.completion.CompletionProvider$CompletionJob.notifyCompletionResolved() doesn't expect that ContextService.activateContext() call it does from the job will need UI thread access.

It seems that every AI interaction / code proposal is logged to the Eclipse Error log as "Info":

Logging is fine, but that pollutes application log with lot of "garbage". Ideally this would be redirected to a dedicated log file and only warnings/errors are printed to the main log file.

After investigation, this is a server-side feature despite the IDE environment. You can log out of the plugin and log back in once your quota is refreshed as a workaround. We will also try to improve the user experience in future releases. Thanks for your feedback!

What I did:
I couldn't install the plugin from the Eclipse Marketplace, so I added the certificates using keytool. I used the following commands:

Another solution is you can favorite the GitHub Copilot plugin, then go the eclipse's embedded market place, then click 'Favorites' tab and signin with your eclipse account. You will find the GitHub Copilot plugin there and it can be installed to eclipse directly without dragging from browser:

My issue is not that I cannot download the plugin, but that the downloaded plugin does not work.
Using the linked solution, I was able to download it by loading the certificate myself, but it does not function properly.

Please bundle per OS/architecture, currently com.microsoft.copilot.eclipse.core_0.1.0.202502101332.jar is 130 MB, the biggest parts in it being the language server binary which is embedded 4 times

The p2 tooling allows you to have architecture specific bundles.

I am using Eclipse 2024-12 (4.34.0) to develop in an SAP environment. I have installed the Copilot plugin today.

As soon as I open source code (ABAP class, RAP behaviour, Service definition, Table definition) I am getting the following error:

Thanks for the feedback. Due to the special nature of the Eclipse ABAP environment (ADT), the current GitHub Copilot plugin version does not support it yet. We are actively working with SAP to fix this issue ASAP and will let you know once it is supported.

It seems that you are adapting an editor instance to ITextOperationTarget but then casting it to ITextViewer (e.g., (ITextViewer)editor.getAdapter(ITextOperationTarget.class);). Please note that you can only rely on the getAdapter method to return the requested class passed as an argument. It's not advisable to cast it to another interface or class.

I would recommend calling (ITextViewer)editor.getAdapter(ITextViewer.class) instead. If you want to obtain an ISourceViewer for a given editor instance, you can use the following approach:

Additionally, please be aware that ADT uses a semantic file system implementation (https://wiki.eclipse.org/E4/Resources/Semantic_File_System/Use_Cases) which behaves differently from the local file system. Are there any plans to open-source the Copilot for Eclipse plugin? Open-sourcing the plugin would make it easier for us to analyze and address any issues, and contribute to its improvement.

I've noticed that it is important that the bug appears only if the multipage editor is opened with non-text page first. If the multipage editor opened and the active tab is a text editor, everything is fine. So it seem that the copilot contribution that hooks into the editor open event miss the tab change in multipage editor.

From my understanding your application as two parts, the eclipse integration and a Language Server.

I can sign in when I disable the "Strict SSL" but I can't get completions.

From my perspective is the sign in handled in the Java Part of your Appl. and the Completions come from the LS in TS.

I have seen this error message already in a similiar fashion and the issue was that the TS component does a certificate check that is not that straight forward to decativate. And I have the feeling that your checkbox does not configure the LS but only the sign in.

Awesome It looks good thank you. but why don't I see Claude Sonnet 3.7 as a model to choose. I can understand that I don't see it if I log with an account that is on the free tier but I am logging with a paid user that should have an option of Sonnet 3.7. Copilot4Eclipse who uses your subscription does that. Is this a bug or is this by design ? Also could you tell what could be the next upgrades and when do you except them to come out ? may I suggest you add to option to create a file on the project from the answer on the chat or to apply the change on an existing file. maybe someday you will have multi files edits and creations in Eclipse

We are trying our best to launch Claude 3.7 ASAP.

Long story short, currently those newest models will launch to different IDEs progressively. Copilot4Eclipse can have it because it mimic itself as a JetBrains IDE during initialization, which is a kind of abuse of the protocol.

BTW, we are also considering some work to make all the models can be launched to all ides at the same time in the future. Which can avoid confusion like this.

For the annotation plugin issue:

Missing requirement: com.microsoft.copilot.eclipse.core 0.2.0.202502180149 (com.microsoft.copilot.eclipse.core 0.2.0.202502180149) requires 'osgi.bundle; org.eclipse.jdt.annotation 0.0.0' but it could not be found

In our view the org.eclipse.jdt.annotation plugin dependencies should be marked as optional, so they are not required at runtime. Those annotations are only used at build time so not expected to be present in an installation. I think many Eclipse based products might fail with this error.

The reason that we require 2024-09 or higher is because we are using the code mining api to render the inline completion, and the support for multiple line rendering was introduced in 2024-09.

lsp4e@0.18.12 is the version of 2024-09. But yes, I agree with you that we should check if we can lower the version if we are not using any new apis.

We have a listener to audit folding/unfolding events in Eclipse. We have to do it in this way since the Eclipse caret position flickers during these events, which can cause the completion ghost text to render or clear in the wrong position. Note the two last TypeError: Cannot set properties of undefined errors - they are new in 0.3.0.
In 0.2.0 we only had Failed to parse certificate warnings.
Also note, the tests do nothing with Copilot, they just run our application tests and Copilot is just available in the target platform.

I have a possible issue:
We have a shared Linux install and some files like copilot-language-server didn't have group execute permissions on them. I don't know if this was an artifact of my install flow or whether it's a more widespread issue. I did the initial install using the Eclipse Marketplace plugin.
